The project, with an investment capital of nearly VND 1.5 trillion (US $71.4 million) is being carried out by the HCM City Infrastructure & Investment Joint Stock Company.

The 987m long, 23.5m wide, four-lane bridge will run parallel with the current Saigon Bridge . It is scheduled to be completed in 21 months.

The new bridge is expected to reduce the volume of traffic on the existing bridge, which was built over five decades ago.
