Mrs. Pratibha Mehta thanked the Minister for his time, and his as well as the MOC’s positive evaluation about UN-Habitat. Mrs. Pratibha asserted urbanization was unavoidable in Vietnam transition from low income country to middle income one, as well as in its modernization and industrialization process. However, she noted that Vietnam should pay attention to those challenges attached to the urbanization, such as building infrastructure, urban transport, water supply and especially climate change issue. Mrs. Pratibha suggested that Vietnam should conduct national analysis, assessment and dialogue with urban residents to draw up suitable and sustainable urban development strategies while forming policies.

Minister Dung totally agreed with Mrs. Pratibha’s assessment, thanked her for suggestion, and hoped to receive tremendous support from UN-Habitat in the future.
